This is one of Tigrai’s highly secure buildings. Only one holy monk, who was told by his predecessor in his dreams on his death note is allowed to enter and keep the Ark.

Much of Jewish tradition holds that the Ark of the Covenant disappeared before or while the Babylonians sacked the temple in Jerusalem in 586 B.C. Due to this fact its beome common to call it ‘the Lost Ark of the Covenant’. But through the centuries, Tigrian Christians have claimed that the ark rests in a chapel in the town of Aksum. This postcard shows the exact chapel.
