Day -1: Drive Mekelle to Shire

Overnight at a standard hotel in Shire Indaselassie.

Day – 2: Driver Shire to the park through adiabo (Adi Daero, Adi Nebrid, Adi Hageray, Sheraro, crossing Tekeze). Visiting on the way Major General Hayelom Araya‘s statue at Adi Nebrid and Bayto Seyemti Adiabo Stele at the north-most outskirt of Adi Nebrid.

Camp inside the park at selected camping locations safe from wildlife attacks. Overnight camping with freshly cocked food accompanied by campfire and warm chats.

Day – 3: Explore the park

You can drive or walk through the park to visit the many wild lives and plant species populating the park. Driving is preferable to cover a large excursion guided and accompanied by an experienced scout and guide, if possible. You will see different wild lives running here and there. The Elephants, Red Front Gazel, located only in the park, and many more animals.

After a half day trek into the park, you will probably find the river Tekeze flowing westwards bordering Tigrai and Eritrea. You have an unforgettable time playing with sand at the riverside. Have lunch at the sand shaded by large indigenous trees. You can rearrange and construct your camping for overnight on the escarpment forming the riverside or drive back to the previous night’s camping.

Day – 4: Drive back to Shire

Drive back to Shire through Humera, Baeker, Dansha, Adi Remets, crossing Tekeze once again. Having lunch at some of the small towns, you’ll find yourself soon at Shire, the lovely city of charm. Overnight in a standard hotel.

Day – 5: City tour & Drive back to Mekelle

After a relaxed breakfast, visit the earliest pre-Axumite archaeological site of Mai Adrasha. Drive back to Mekelle after a brief stop and visit to the majestic obelisk at Axum.
